Welcome to Discovering Family International (DFI). DFI is a faith-based organization which adheres to traditional Judeo-Christian values to strengthen family relationships. What does family mean to you? For some it conjures warm images of laughter, children, and intimacy. For others family is associated with hurtful images of abandonment, fear, and scorn. For most of us, the mental imagery of family is intricately linked to our experiences with our primary caregivers during the early developmental stages of our lives.
How have your early life experiences impacted your current perspective of what it means to be family? Whether "family" is a term of endearment or one of anxiety for you, DFI offers you hope. It is a hope built upon three God-centered beliefs:
- The belief that God created us for intimacy
- The belief that within each of us is a spiritual resilency that longs for authentic relationship with God and with each other
- The belief that all things work together for the good to those who love God and abide in His purposes
DFI exists solely for the purpose of strengthening the spiritual, psychological, and emotional capabilities of families worldwide by promoting this message of hope. DFI adopts a resilience-based model focused on discovery of the skills, talents, and interests that lie within each individual and family. DFI seeks to serve communities domestically and abroad by offering workshops,seminars, and networking opportunities through religious and secular organizations.
DFI promotes discovery of individual, couple, and organizational potential through two Discovery Modules, DISCOVER MARRIAGE AND DISCOVER WEALTH as well as an array of specific workshops. Each Discovery Module consists of a biblically-centered model teaching principles that transform families and family ministry into their God-given purpose.
