Discover Marriage Overview

God designed marriage as the bedrock of human institutions and societies across the world since He joined Adam and Eve as husband and wife. God designed marriage as a divine covenant symbolizing the most sacred partnership into which two humans may enter. Yet spouses often struggle to feel their marriages are sane much less sacred. Marriages are often fraught with so many emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges that spouses have difficulty believing that there is any ultimate purpose in their marriage.

Despite the frustration that you now experience, there is hope. There is hope that beneath the anxiety, apathy, and anger there is the opportunity to discover the true treasure: authentic marriage. Regardless of how you feel about your marriage right now, we challenge you to discover the untapped potential in four areas of your marriage relationship:

  • God's Design For Your Marriage
  • The Will to Forgive and be Forgiven
  • The Road to Intimacy
  • The Power of Partnership

Genesis 2:24 describes the marriage partnership as entailing a three-step process of leaving, cleaving, and becoming one. Although religious and secular institutions talk about the process of "becoming one", the strength and resilience of marriage is much more dependent on the ability of each spouse to leave and to cleave. Discovering authentic marriage requires that husbands and wives leave their self-centered comfort zones and cleave to a God-centered view of marriage. Rather than viewing leaving and cleaving as endpoints on the marriage journey, God understands them as a refining process through which every successful marriage much struggle. Discovering Family International was formed to partner with you to transform your marriage from a human-centered to a God-centered one.
